Sun Activities

As we begin to learn about the sun, kids explored making sun dials.

Today the kids also started to create projects with partners to represent the sun. After listening to a couple books about the sun, they had to make a plan to show what the sun looks like and to share at least three facts that they have learned. It was great to see how engaged the kids were as they began creating their projects. So many different and great ideas!!

ECO Thanksgiving

Last week during ECO we celebrated Thanksgiving. We roasted apples and potatoes, which were delicious. Everything seems to taste better when it is eaten outdoors. We also popped popcorn!  Kids worked on making necklaces out of "tree cookies" and decorated banners with things they are thankful for.

I am thankful for the beautiful weather we had that day and for this wonderful class!

ECO Friday

Despite having to change our plans a bit for ECO today, we had a great time. It was such a windy day, we did not feel like it was safe to hike up to our base camp. Instead we stayed on the Mad River Path, which stays lower and is not as windy. We hiked and explored some new areas, while searching for items that were special to each student and materials for making mice out of clay.

Then we had a snack and some tea, while listening to a story about a mouse who collected special things.

Then we returned to school to draw and write about the special items we found on our hike.

And we made clay mice, which are as cute as can be!

lLater this afternoon, after some great math, we listened to another mouse story by Leo Lionni and created mice to display in our classroom window.
