Chair Challenge

We had another building challenge today! After listening to the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears retold by James Marshall, the first and second graders worked in small groups to build a chair for a stuffed bear. The trick was they only could use paper and masking tape to create a chair strong enough to hold the bear. To be successful they needed to cooperate and try many different strategies. Such great problem solving and creativity. There was also tons of excitement when the chairs worked!

Tall Tower Challenge

Today the kids worked cooperatively in small groups to build the tallest tower possible with 50 Legos. It was a blast and a ton of learning was happening in the process. All the kids were extremely proud of their group's tower. Check out the photos below.

4-winds

A few weeks ago, our wonderful 4-winds parents visited the class to teach us about birds and their nests. As part of the lesson, kids had the opportunity to "be birds" and build nests outside.

Polar Bear Art

Our class worked with our 5th and 6th grade buddies on some polar bear art. They used chalk and oil pastels for their work. The finished bears are hanging in the hallway by the pre-school, along with their reports.

The kids have also been visiting other classrooms to share their polar bear reports and to talk about our fundraising project.
