Pattern Block Creations

The kids explore with different materials in the morning before we begin our day with Morning Meeting. Pattern blocks are a favorite choice for many of the kiddos. They wanted me to post some pictures of their favorite creations, so here you go!

Chair Challenge

We had another building challenge today! After listening to the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears retold by James Marshall, the first and second graders worked in small groups to build a chair for a stuffed bear. The trick was they only could use paper and masking tape to create a chair strong enough to hold the bear. To be successful they needed to cooperate and try many different strategies. Such great problem solving and creativity. There was also tons of excitement when the chairs worked!
